ADHD and Psychological Assessment
Assessment and testing services are currently available for adults only. Similar to therapy services, I cannot accept current UT students for assessment.
Some questions about mental health can be difficult to answer, which is where formal assessment and testing can be helpful. Using the right tools can help us get a more in-depth understanding of a diagnosis.
Common examples of assessment and testing I can provide:
ADHD assessment
Pre-surgery assessment (e.g., for bariatric surgery)
Cognitive and intellectual functioning assessment
Emotional and social functioning assessment
Diagnostic clarification and documentation
Examples of assessment and testing I DO NOT provide:
Forensic assessments
Child custody cases
Personal injury/liability assessments
Court-ordered evaluations
Emotional support animal letters
The time requirement, assessments completed, and fees will all vary depending on what question we are trying to answer. It is common to expect about 4-8 hours total for all meeting and testing time. Not all steps in the assessment process are completed at once, they are generally spread out over the course of a few weeks. Fees generally range $500 – $2000 for the complete process of meeting, gathering information, taking tests, and writing the report. Some typical steps to expect are:
Brief phone conversation about what you want to learn (no charge for this part)
Brief screening questionnaires
In-depth clinical interview
Taking standardized tests in the office
Meeting to review results
Getting a full written report of results
Assessment and testing results are put into a formal report that is kept with your confidential records. Your report can be important for accessing other resources and care to help with treatment of a diagnosis (e.g., starting medication with a psychiatrist or family medical doctor).
