About Me

I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas and have been involved in providing psychological services for over 20 years. I received my doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Florida and completed my doctoral internship at the Georgia State University Counseling & Testing Center in Atlanta, GA. In addition to private practice, I am a staff psychologist at the University of Texas Counseling & Mental Health Center. In my role at UT I provide therapy services to students, as well as work closely with our training program. Outside of work I enjoy TV, movies, reading, spending time with friends and family, and traveling. I also play more video games than I care to admit and love to travel to conventions whenever I get the chance.

I take a lot of pride in my training as a psychologist and I really love what I do. I have received intensive training and experience specifically with providing therapy and mental health assessment. My education background strongly values the importance of evidence-based treatment and intervention, which influences my work with clients to make sure that you get the most out of our time together. My other most important focus is our relationship and your value as a whole person. Life comes with a lot of challenges and we all need that “go-to person” who we trust to help guide our decisions. Sometimes it’s helpful to have this person be outside of our family, friends, and daily lives. If you feel that I am the right person for you, I want to make sure that you feel supported, but also encouraged and pushed to grow.

I am trained as a “generalist practitioner” who is knowledgeable to help in most cases. My approaches to therapy include Humanistic-Existential Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also have particular specialties, training, and interests in:

Every person has a unique story and needs. As such, if you are wondering if I am the right therapist for you, I encourage you to consider scheduling a phone consultation to explore this with me further, or find someone who feels like the right fit for you.
